An AC (Air Conditioner) is a system for controlling the humidity, ventilation, and temperature in a building, typically to maintain a cool atmosphere in warm conditions.

A BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the unit used to measure thermal (heat) energy. It is the amount of energy required to be given to or taken from 1 pound of water to raise or lower its temperature by 1°F.

A Heat Pump consists of two parts, an indoor unit called an air handler and an outdoor unit similar to a central air conditioner, but referred to as a heat pump. A compressor circulates refrigerant that absorbs and releases heat as it travels between the indoor and outdoor units.

HVAC is an acronym for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.

The SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating measures the ratio of cooling capacity to power input. The higher the SEER rating, the higher the air conditioner's efficiency. You will yield more work out of your air conditioning equipment with a higher SEER rating for the same energy cost.

Heating and Air Conditioning equipment, regaurdless of the brand or type, should be inspected, cleaned, and serviced at least once a year. Give us a call at JJ Douglas Services to set up an appointment for regular scheduled maintenance.

An average home or office without pets should have the air filter changed every 90 days. A home or office consisting of pets or if someone has allergies should have the air filter changed every 30-60 days depending on the severity of the condition.

Changing the air filter on a regular scheduled basis will keep your HVAC system running more efficiently.

Is your indoor or outdoor unit making strange noises?
Is it taking longer than normal to cool or heat your home or office?
Has your energy cost increased for no apparent reason?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you HVAC is not working properly and is in need of service. Call JJ Douglas Services and we will get you up and running again.

Sizing HVAC equipment is very IMPORTANT from both a comfort and energy standpoint! Heating and cooling equipment that are over-sized will run infrequently and for short periods. This will result in humidity problems. Oppositely, heating and cooling equipment that are under-sized will result in comfort loss and extreme energy costs.

Trust our expert technicians at JJ Douglas Services to design and install a system that will operate at peak performance and efficiency.

Temperature setting usually depends on what makes you most comfortable and the season. Generally, in the summer, an average setting is between 75°-80° and in the winter, an average temperature is between 68°-72°.
